Sunday Service
Our service on a Sunday is always at 10.30am St. Mary’s is a worshipping community that comprises and celebrates a diverse congregation- socially and ethnically and ranges from babies to those in their 70s. We gather from all over Sheffield as well as those who live in the parish.
We have a regular group for our primary age children and a thriving youth group for those of Secondary age. At least once a month we worship together in a service appropriate for all ages.
We usually have musicians who lead us in a mix of contemporary and traditional songs and hymns that reflect our global heritage. We explore the Bible together in a variety of ways and make time to pray both creatively and using words. Our services of Holy Communion use the Common Worship formats and we seek to involve as many people as possible in the leading of our worship. Refreshments are served each Sunday and we regularly stay and eat together. All are welcome – come and pay us a visit!
St Mary’s is part of the Church of England and the Diocese of Sheffield.
OurChapel
Whatever is happening in the building our chapel is always open as a space for private prayer and quiet reflection.
Prayer Community
We meet every Monday at 9am and each Thursday at 12 noon in the chapel at St Mary’s to pray for our world, our life together and use a cycle of prayer leaflet that is shared with the wider congregation to enable us to pray “together” when apart. These are designed to fit in with our working day so are usually 15 minutes in duration.
Messy Church
We meet once a month on a Friday from 4-6pm. Messy church particularly seeks to serve families with Primary School age children although both older and younger children are very welcome. We have a number of crafts and games which change each month, but we always gather together to sing, to hear or watch a Bible story and we finish by sharing a simple meal together.
