Friday is our day to draw breath and catch up on admin jobs. It’s been a busy week – lots of people coming to the Social Supermarket for the first time and lots of regulars coming back, even battling through the snow to get here.
Many of our customers also have skills and passions and interests which just need an opportunity to be shown. Check out the cakes and buns in this photo – beautifully presented and delicious, made quietly by someone who wants to do more than just get free food.
People do not live by bread alone. “It’s not just the food, it’s the company …. It’s something to get dressed for…” and also a place where you can do some simple things which bring a hint of joy. It’s humbling to be a place where that can happen.
